Happy New Years

Filed under: family — admin @ 7:19 am

Well, it is 2008 and it is another chance to change and grow.

As a family we went to the “Classic Fun Center”. They had roller-skating, bounce houses, climbing jungle, laser tag, and video games. I was pleasantly surprised that we ended up spending over four hours there. All of the kids had a fun time and it wasn’t really all that expensive. It was probably the best activity that we have had in a long while. The older kids didn’t get bored and the younger kids didn’t cry. It was all in good fun.

It was also the last day of Christmas vacation for the kids. It was fun to have a break, but the break has been too long and it is time for them to get back to school and into a more regular schedule. They might not totally admit it, but I think that they were getting a bit restless with this too.

Reading in the Book of Mormon about people boasting in their own strength and not giving God the credit. When we do this we find ourselves alone and without the support of our God. I can use all the extra help I can get. I need to be careful that I acknowledge his assistance and not take all the credit myself.

Histories

Filed under: family — dto @ 8:20 am

I was reading in the Book of Mormon and was struck by how odd it is that sometimes months, years, and decades can be passed without a mention, and other times days, hours, and minutes can take up pages.

It provides for a somewhat warped view of time and history but it makes for an interesting change of pace. I guess my journal entries and how I would describe my life in general would fall under that same kind of category. There are times of interest and excitement and lulls where things aren’t changing all that much.

I need to do a better job of reading, studying, praying, and writing. I’m hoping that 2008 will be a new start.
