  • Trying out tweet-r air client – works well on windows, but no air for linux – bummer. #
  • working on best practices for BPEL deployment. #
  • Crap – I was late for the vanpool. Not too late, but I still hate to make others wait. #

Waiting for baseball practice to end

We will wait this one out.

Tons of fun.

I didn’t even realize that our machine even had a filter. These new-fangled machines do it all. I can hardly believe the gunk in there. See how many things you can find… Like a where is waldo or something. And yes, one item is infact a sock.

Oh well, thank goodness for the internet and error codes. Now I know what a Whirlpool Duet is saying when it flashes F-02. It means that a sock was sucked into the draining mechanism and all hope is lost.

Oh well, there is always tomorrow. It will be a better day.

  • Can’t get a twitter app to run on my linux desktop – Wishing I didn’t have to use twitkit. #
  • reviewing resumes for our back office ERP assessment project. I’m a little frustrated with the quality. #
  • Got my blog by email almost working. Plaintext is fine – Yahoo richtext is ignored. Sigh… #
  • Odd – I didn’t know we sponsored lunch poker tournaments. A bit bizarre… #
  • @Veronica – me too, Can’t wait to vote for him. #
  • Well, we have had another employee escorted away. There seems to be quite a rash of this over the past 6 months. Kinda sucks. #

  • Heading into an interview with my former boss. I am not quite sure how to spin this. I am excited to see what he has to say. #
  • Interview success – well, at least I think it was a success. I had Chris, a VP, SVP, and the person I’d be replacing. #

Initial Interview

Filed under: Uncategorized — dto @ 11:13 pm

Today I got to go up to Overstock and interview with several members of the Oracle team. I interviewed with Chris Mason, a VP, an SVP, and the person I would be replacing. As I reflect on the 4 on 1 I think I did pretty well. I feel that I was able to answer their questions without much difficulty and the only area that I feel I’m a bit lacking in is that they process thousands of orders per hour, whereas Novell processes thousands of orders in a month. It is a huge volume difference. I’d have to come up to speed on it quickly.

After the interview I got the typical… “We are interviewing and evaluating other candidates – we’ll get back to you”. We’ll see how it goes. The commute would certainly be better. 10 miles versus 37 miles. Not that the commute is the only reason for making a change. There are a lot of good things about Overstock and there are good things happening at Novell as well. I’m not sure what I’ll do if they make me an offer. I guess I’ll cross that bridge when it gets a bit closer.

Anyway – It was a nice day. I was supposed to have two interviews, but ended up only with the one at Overstock. Se la vie.

  • Took a lovely walk around Novell and the sewer treatment plant. Gotta love the smell! 2.5 miles is nice. #
  • Can’t get my stupid phone to MS Activesync. It suddenly stopped working after getting the phone to work as a modem. #
