Ward Campout Fountain Green Utah

Filed under: family — dto @ 1:21 pm

Our ward had a campout at the “quarter circle Y” ranch in Fountain Green. Kris stayed home with Cassidy and Tanner and I took the youngest four on a road trip. We packed everything in the little white corolla and headed south.
The ranch was great. It was like a park with swings, pavilion, volleyball net, grass, shade, etc. The kids were just able to run and be kids with the rest of the ward. It was great to see them all off having fun.
We stopped at Aunt Jessie’s house and took a picture. We also went to the fish hatchery just above the ranch. It was huge and there were an incredible number of fish.
On the way home we stopped at the Young Living Farm – it was really weird. Nobody was there. We played on the playground and rode the paddle boats and then made our way home.
We stopped at an in-n-out burger and even Abbi at a full combo meal.
We had a great time. I got sunburned, but it was well worth it.

Frustrated

Filed under: family — dto @ 3:21 am

Today I was frustrated with the family. I’m tired of the money crunch. I’m tired of the complete lack of respect for our house and things. I tried to go for a bike ride but mysteriously my bike’s chain was off, speedometer broken, and the front wheel is out of alignment. Nobody knows… Nobody seems to care either. Food all over the playroom. No food or water for either pet… My sleep cycle is messed up for some reason and I don’t have a lot of energy.
Anyway I am probably just going through a grumpy phase. Sorry that I’m a grump.

Pioneer Day Celebrated

The day started out early with Dave running the Deseret News 10K. Kris and Dave left the house at 5:00AM. The race was a fast race, but I was sucking wind pretty badly. All told it was my fastest 10K at 53:12:7 but it didn’t feel good. Also I’m wiped out now. Kind of weird…
In the afternoon I took the four youngest and took the leisurely hike up to Donut Falls. We had a great time and there wasn’t even too much whining except for whining about still being hungry.
Now Kris has the kids at the swimming pool and Tanner is at the second of his 2-a-day practices at West Jordan. He is walking really well now, but he really isn’t strong enough for football yet. He is working hard. I hope he can be ready for actual football.
Life is good. Back to work tomorrow.

Parker Pioneer Talk

Filed under: family — dto @ 6:34 am

Parker decided to strike several sections…

One of the things I like to do is to make paper airplanes. I can make many different kinds of airplanes. When we need to travel across the country we sometimes drive but most of the time we fly in a plane because it is so much faster.
We are celebrating pioneer-day today. When the pioneers came to Salt Lake there weren’t any airplanes. There weren’t even any cars. All that they could do was walk and push their handcarts. It took several months to make the trip. Sometimes they had good weather and other times it was really bad. Most of the time it was really dangerous. Not everybody lived either. Many people died while traveling to Utah. It must have been really hard.
All of the pioneers had great faith. They knew that Brigham Young was Heavenly Father’s prophet. They believed that Heavenly Father talked to Brigham Young and told him where to lead the pioneers. They learned, listened, and obeyed.
Just like the pioneers, we have to have faith in the prophet. We need to do the things that he asks us to do if we want to be safe and happy. We wont have to push a handcart but we will still need to have great courage. We need to follow the prophet and be a pioneer.
I know that President Monson is the true prophet. I know the church is true. I will try to follow what the prophet says.

I say these things in the name…

Kiki-maid at Herriman beach

Wish I was there. Looks like they had fun. I had work. Kennedy was pretending to be a mermaid. She isn’t crying because Tanner busied himself with digging a hole someplace else. Just kidding. Tanner can be nice to his siblings.
