Papa Jim and Ammie Presents

Filed under: family — dto @ 11:53 am

As per tradition, the kids were ecstatic to open presents from Papa Jim and Ammie. They loved their gifts and their Grandparents. Thanks for helping kick-off Christmas. Here is a —CLICK HERE— stop-motion movie —CLICK HERE— of the kids opening their presents.
Merry Christmas!

Bob Oldroyd Christmas Party

We had the annual Bob Oldroyd Christmas party at the clubhouse. I think everyone had a good time. We wish that Jen / Shel and families could have been there, but we all survived. I roasted a turkey for the occasion and it was excellent (if I do say so myself). We all had fun.

Caroling with ELA and the Elementary Kids

Filed under: family — dto @ 10:10 pm

ELA decorated a christmas tree at Zion’s bank and then went caroling all around Soda Row in daybreak. The kids had a blast. It wasn’t too cold and there was treats and drinks everywhere. They sung the songs and ran around with their friends. Other than not getting any homework done life is great.
Oh yeah – I almost forgot, Abbi lost a tooth as well.

Killing Time at Target

Filed under: family — dto @ 10:06 pm

Needed to kill a little time with the kids out at daybreak. We went to Target and looked around. They found lots of presents that they wanted for themselves – and a few for mom too, but mostly for themselves…

1000 Nike Miles!

Filed under: family — dto @ 9:07 pm

I hit 1000 miles today (at least according to my Nike+ device and iPhone). I will admit to being pretty proud of it too. I went through 2 inserts, 2 iPods and 1 iPhone. The 1000 miles is like running from Salt Lake to Dallas – something I would never do…
I started recording my runs in January 2008. Took off September 2008-July 2008, and then was injured in February 2010 – taking me out of action through August 2010. Certainly 2011 has been my best year ever with nearly 500 miles in 2011 so far.

Year Miles
2008 202
2009 250
2010 120
2011 500

Life is good.

Sunday drawings

Filed under: family — dto @ 11:25 am

During church today we made a few images in a flip book. Parker laughed so hard at this. It isn’t all that funny but he was nearly rolling in the aisles. I love Kris and think she is the best. I’m putting these up because kris wanted to snag these for her blog too.

Busy weekend

Filed under: family — dto @ 11:09 am

I can’t hardly believe that Cassidy is now 18. It seems like just yesterday that Kris and I were pacing around the mall and hospital waiting for Cassidy to come. We were so young and stupid. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. What a crazy, wonderful, stressful whirlwind our lives would become. I don’t regret it at all.
I’m so proud of Cassidy. She is doing the things that she should, learning the things she should learn, and becoming the daughter of God that she really is. She will be successful in all the things that she attempts. She is awesome.
Her party Friday evening at Noah’s was fun. She had lots of friends, family, and neighbors come out for karaoke, food, Wally-ball, ping pong, pool, and videos. Everyone seemed to have a good time and Cassidy flitted between the various groups and played the perfect hostess. We didn’t get home until after 1:00AM. Tanner and Lexi helped clean up and get things taken care of. It was fun to have Lexi get to be part of the teens and try on being ‘big’.
Saturday found us out at Cassidy’ singing recital. Cassidy did well but you could tell that she had been up all night screaming karaoke. She just didn’t have her full voice, but all together she did well. The rest of the recital was a bit sketchy and in a number of ways kinda creepy but it all turned out well. It fit in well out at the old Magna empress theater.
Family came over for the Utah football game. Tanner did a great job of cleaning up and even made the hot wings. The game went well and we all had fun. It is nice to have people over and enjoy their company.
Life is good. I have lots to do and to work on but it is good and I believe we are moving forward.
We have Madeline’s viewing tonight and funeral tomorrow. It must be a part of getting old but it seems like that the past 18 months or so have been filled with many births and deaths. I don’t know. It gives me time to pause and think.
Again – life is good!

Madeline Died

Filed under: family — dto @ 11:49 am

On Halloween Madeline was in a car crash where her car went through a red light and was hit by cars from both sides. She was taken to the University Hospital and was put on life support. On Nov 2 the decision was made to take her off of life support and she passed away.

More sadness.

Pumpkin Carving

Filed under: family — dto @ 7:58 pm

Almost missed the tradition. I’m really glad that we didn’t blow it. The kids had a great time and I did too. We made some great pumpkin seeds to go along with it.
Life’s good.

Ward Spooktacular

Filed under: family — dto @ 6:49 pm

Oh the insanity of the Spooktacular. It is way too loud but the kids are having fun. I’m pretty sure that I am done. Kris didn’t want to come.
