Cassidy was riding home from camp on Trax when the train took the corner too fast. Several people smashed up against her and she fell forward and off to the side. Her foot went through the door of the train and out onto the pavement.
The train just kept going. Her friends were screaming and hollering and Cassidy was trying to get them to get off of her so she could get her foot back into the train. By the time she got her foot back inside she lost her shoe and fell victim to some truly nasty road-rash.
Her friends were hysterical, but she remained pretty calm throughout. Several passengers complained to the train driver but he really didn’t care. She got it cleaned up a bit and continued riding the train home. She didn’t go straight home but came up to my work on the bus to show me and have me take her home. The funny thing was that the bus driver wasn’t going to let her ride the bus without a shoe on her foot. Cassidy’s friend threw a fit at the driver, explaining that it was the transit authority’s fault that she didn’t have a shoe on her foot. In the end she made it to my office – I took the picture and the rest is history.
Cassidy did really well until we sprayed the antibiotic spray on her, then she screamed bloody murder.
She is a great kid. I feel awful that she got hurt. Hopefully this will qualify her for Mare’s “scar book”.
Isn’t public transportation great?
