General Priesthood Session 2008
We got out of ‘Civil War’ late, so I got to the meeting late. Typically we would meet up at Mom and Dad’s house and all the boys would go over. Not only am I late, but Dad is really sick and mom won’t let him go (probably for the best) – so here I am at Matt’s stake. Things are a bit odd, but good.

“Deacon’s Bench” – A royal generation – Divine potential.
See them as faithful husbands, fathers, and leaders.
Reflect on the twelve year old Jesus.
He increased in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man.
Gave no heed to temptation.
Absolute obedience.
Do the things that will please the Father.

Pres. Uchtdorf
Small changes in coorinates up front make large changes dow the road. Large tradgedy by minor errors.
Difference between sadness and happiness is often just a few degrees.
Story of Saul
Stay the course – do what is right.
Nobody wants tradgedy, but sometimes we allow for small errors and minor drifts which put us way off course.
The longer we delay our course correction, the longer it takes to get back.
Quickly make our course corrections and come back. We all make errors. Try to minimize and also quickly come back.
Dangers of the internet – tool for good and evil.
Watch our thoughts.
The Savior will forgive us and cleanse us.
Make decisive decisions today.
Treasure and apply the words of the Savior.
He will make us a new heart and a new man.

Live up to the oath and covenant of the priesthood.
Renew covenants in the temple.
The priesthood can appear daunting.
God promises His help to help us succeed.
He knows us, our strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.
Go forward in faith – He will make you ‘fit’ for His service.
Priesthood service changes us and prepares us for living together in eternal families.
Care for others – give the service we can do. Look for ways we can serve.

We live in complex and troubled times.
We can make a difference in this world. Limitless opportunities.
Are my hands clean? Is my heart pure?
Bombarded with temptation on every side.
Do not be deceived by the allure of ‘tolerance’
Make a stand for right.
Am I Kind and loving to wife and children? Honest?
Be an influence for good in all things. We are all influencers all the time. We choose the kind of influence.
(ear wiggling)
Set example worthy of imitation.
Obedience to duty is the essense of manhood.
Labor, love, serve, testify – just as the Savior did. Start tonight, begin anew.
We have the gospel – now live it!

Per usual – we went out to dinner after conference. The three of us went to “New Dragon Diner” and enjoyed Chinese food. It is a favorite place of Kris and me. Jon and Matt liked it as well. It is pretty good food and it is really inexpensive.
After dinner we went over and picked up donuts for conference morning breakfast tomorrow. Its all good.
Civil War
Cass, Kris, and Dave went to see the production of the Civil War at Hale Theater.
The production was good, but not great. Merril Osmond was supposed to perform, but he didn’t. We got the understudy. I can see how this could have been really great on Broadway, but it just didn’t really do it for me at Hale theater. The highlights were the slavery scenes and dancing. Those scenes were fun, emotional, powerful, and very enjoyable.
Making pancakes
Saturday is for pancakes made from scratch. This week is Abigail’s turn to help. It is kind of a tradition for us.
It is all good stuff.

11-year old wants royalties

Since we made the family videos and put them on YouTube (Super Roquefort – The beginning and Super Roquefort Saves Easter ) Tanner has been getting people to view the shows. Well, we finally made it to double-digits in the number of views. Now, Tanner feels that since he is wearing Under Armour apparel in both videos that Under Armour should pay him some royalties. To that end Tanner wrote a letter to the president of the company, politely asking for compensation.
We haven’t heard anything from them yet…

FHE
We had family home evening tonight. Tanner gave the lesson on temptation – and the need to flee from it. What you see here is the object lesson. Water, Pepper, and a little dish detergent to make it scatter.
Lexi told us a story. She told us about the gingerbread man. We aren’t quite sure why she wanted to tell us the gingerbread man story but she did and so we listened. Kris even crafted a link back into Tanner’s lesson about running from temptation into Lexi’s gingerbread man story.
