Payoff Weekend
This was a very nice weekend. It proves that I’m getting old, but it was a great weekend all together. Yesterday Abbi was baptized. It is hard to believe that my youngest of six is now baptized and moving forward with her life. She is such a little itty-bitty girl that it’s hard to believe that she is now really eight and a baptized member of the church. Add to that, Tanner was able to perform the baptism. It’s something that he will remember for the rest of his life. I know that I still remember and savor the opportunity to baptize Holly nearly thirty years ago.
Today was fast Sunday and we had a great reason to fast as Tanner received his patriarchal blessing from Patriarch Fowlks. He invited us into his home and we had a very nice discussion around Tanner, his life and aspirations. The spirit was strong as the Patriarch laid his hands on Tanner’s head to give him the blessing. After having to remind him to turn the tape recorders on, he gave Tanner a beautiful and inspired blessing. Tanner is a truly wonderful son, with unlimited potential. It was an honor and blessing to be there to feel of the spirit and hear his blessing pronounced.
Tanner’s blessing reminded me that I need to review my own blessing and feel of the power behind it.
What a great couple of days from a spiritual perspective. Now, I need to just keep the ball rolling and do my part. I am so imperfect and have so many flaws; but I’m happy with what I have and what my opportunities and prospects are.
I’m one lucky guy.

Abbi’s baptism
Our baby girl was baptized today by Tanner. I was able to confirm her after the baptism. It was a great service. My dad was unfortunately not able to be there but everyone else was there. Cousin Brooke even wrote Abbi a poem and delivered it as part of my talk. Everything went well.
Afterwards we went to “golden corral” for dinner (Abbi’s choice – not mine). Nobody cried and nobody puked. It was all good.
It was a great day.
